Jo Buffalo, Professor of Art at Cazenovia College, has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Art Education. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

An accomplished ceramic artist with 38 years of experience, Ms. Buffalo has taught art and design at Cazenovia College for more than a quarter century. She applies her skill and creativity to her instruction because she loves the intellectual stimulation and rewarding feeling that accompany teaching. In addition, Ms. Buffalo shows her work at Eureka Gallery. It is also part of the Everson Museum of Art's permanent collection. Although she is a regional artist, she has also had her work shown on a national level. She attributes her success to her determination and commitment to personal growth.

Ms. Buffalo believes in giving back and has recently become involved with a local organization that, through Magnus Ridge Winery, recycles beer and wine bottles to make dishes, platters, coasters and vases. Half of the proceeds are made available for equipment and other necessary tools for a community studio art program. Moreover, Ms. Buffalo and her dog were volunteers for more than a decade at a local hospital that offered pet therapy.

In 1985, Ms. Buffalo earned a Master of Fine Arts in illustration from Syracuse University, after having received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in ceramics in 1973 from the same university. In 1997, she was awarded a James Renwick Senior Fellowship from the prestigious Smithsonian American Art Museum. In the next several years, Ms. Buffalo intends to retire from teaching but continue to create art.
